For Immediate Release
Mons, Belgium, Thursday Jan 4th, 2008: Creaceed, the company behind Morph Age and Magnet, creative apps for Mac OS X, today announces a new software named Hydra for easily creating HDR photographies on Mac. Please welcome Hydra, and never forget that sunset again.
Hydra is a software that gives human eye perception to photographies by creating high dynamic range (HDR) images from a series of regular photographies, either from DSLRs or traditional point-and-shoot cameras. Theory of Operation: Hydra uses a number of regular photographies with different expositions (darker and lighter photos) to create a superior one which is much closer to what one's eye can see. This image is also known as a high dynamic range, or HDR, image. This is because a single photography cannot represent the full gamut of light due to physical limitations of the sensor.
No tripod. The images that Hydra uses are not required to be taken with a tripod, as it is usually the case with HDR softwares. Hydra uses the same warping algorithm as Morph Age, which permits the alignment of images with offsets beyond a few pixels. This is a unique feature that means you can take photos anywhere without a tripod to later blend them in Hydra. This will change the way of making HDRs.
Hydra uses an advanced image processing pipeline that first aligns the various images with a non-linear warping algorithm (inherited from Morph Age) and then blends them in a smart way to preserve the interesting inputs of each image. This method has been entirely implemented on the GPU to provide interactive previewing, thanks to core Mac OS X technologies. This allows you to accurately tune all parameters (matching, blending) in real-time while observing the changing result until you are satisfied, and then render the full resolution image (resolutions above 10 Megapixels supported).
Availability. Hydra 1.0 will be available at Macworld on January 14th. It requires any Mac running Mac OS X Leopard and with at least 64 MB of video memory. A special introductory price of $39.95 will be proposed until the end of January 2008 (regular price of $59.95).
About Creaceed + Macworld. Creaceed provides creative softwares targeted towards professionals and consumers on the Mac platform. Creaceed's flagship product, Morph Age, is about creating advanced morphing and warping transitions and rendering that as QuickTime movies, and the other one, Magnet, enables the use of custom special effects that stick to moving objects in QuickTime movies. Creaceed will be part of Macworld'08 in San Francisco this January, 14-18th, booth W-4336 (Moscone West), where its latest software advances, including Hydra, will be presented to customers and the press.
